Our Story

The name “Reina de la Cuchara” comes from a nickname given to Veronica by her husband’s late grandmother. She loved Veronica’s cooking and would often praise her for having *buen sazón*, or that special touch of flavor that makes food memorable. The phrase loosely translates to “Queen of the Spoon,” and reflects the pride, care, and tradition Veronica brings to every dish she prepares.

Reina de la Cuchara began with a simple moment between a mother and daughter.

After many years working in the pharmaceutical industry, Veronica Ureno found herself at a turning point when the company she worked for closed. Around the same time, her daughter was preparing to start a new chapter of her life; getting married and beginning her own family.

Like many daughters, she wanted to learn how to cook the traditional dishes she grew up enjoying.

Veronica began creating spice blends based on her own recipes to help her daughter cook with confidence. These blends made it easy to prepare dishes like birria, pozole, and mole without worrying about getting the seasoning wrong.

Soon, Veronica realized these blends could help many other families who wanted to cook authentic Mexican meals but didn’t always have the time or experience to prepare them from scratch.

Reina de la Cuchara was born from that idea: helping people bring authentic Mexican flavors into their kitchens in a way that is simple, approachable, and rooted in tradition.

Today, each pouch represents not just a seasoning mix, but a way to bring family, culture, and tradition to the dinner table.
